Your Support at Home Services
Support at Home Service Levels Explained
If you’re feeling confused about the Support at Home program and what funding covers, you’re not alone — many families looking for aged care help at home are comparing Support at Home providers and trying to understand what home care services are included. In most cases, Support at Home funding can be used for personal care at home, nursing care at home, domestic assistance for elderly, social support, and transport assistance for elderly, and sometimes a smaller portion may apply to assistive technology depending on assessed needs and budget — the FAQs below explain it clearly.
Support at Home Funding and Eligibility
Do I need government funding to use InCare Supports' Support at Home services?
Yes. To access our Support at Home services, you must have an approved Support at Home package through My Aged Care, at any level from 1 to 8. If you do not yet have a package, we can point you toward how to apply.
What are Support at Home Levels 1 to 8?
Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program, which replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025. It is split into eight funding classifications, each with its own quarterly and annual budget, based on an assessment of your care needs. Classification 1 covers the lowest level of support, up through Classification 8 for those with complex, high-level care needs. Budgets are indexed each July, so current figures should always be checked against the official My Aged Care schedule.
How do I find out what Support at Home level I am eligible for?
Your level is determined through an assessment with My Aged Care. You can start this process by contacting My Aged Care directly. Once you have your approved level, we can help match services to your package.
Can I use InCare Supports if my Support at Home application is still pending?
Our funded in-home services require an approved package first. While your application is pending, you are welcome to shop our full range of aged care products and consumables as a private purchase.
What's the difference between NDIS funding and Support at Home funding?
NDIS supports people under 65 with permanent and significant disability, while Support at Home is the aged care program for older Australians. InCare Supports accepts both, NDIS (self managed or plan managed) and Support at Home, for eligible clients.
Referrals and Getting Started
How do I refer a client or family member for Support at Home services?
You can submit a referral through our online referral form with the client's details, their approved Support at Home level, and the services required. Our team will follow up directly to confirm eligibility and next steps.
Can GPs or hospital discharge planners refer patients to InCare Supports?
Yes. Health professionals, discharge planners, and My Aged Care assessors can refer clients directly using our referrer form. We recommend including the client's approved funding level and any urgency around discharge timing.
What services are covered under Support at Home through InCare Supports?
Depending on your approved level, our services can include personal care, domestic assistance, social support, and allied health support delivered in your own home.
How quickly can services start after a referral?
Once we receive a referral with confirmed funding approval, our team will be in touch promptly to arrange an assessment and start date. Response times may vary depending on the client's location and level of need.
Is there a cost if I do not have Support at Home funding?
Our in-home Support at Home services are only available to clients with an approved package. However, our full product range, including continence care, skincare, and mobility aids, is available to purchase privately regardless of funding.
What Our Support at Home Services Include
What does personal care include under Support at Home?
Personal care covers everyday support with tasks such as showering, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance, helping you maintain your dignity and independence at home. It can also include support with continence management and getting in and out of bed safely.
What does nursing care include under Support at Home?
Nursing care is a clinical service delivered by a qualified nurse, including wound care, medication management, catheter care, and monitoring of ongoing health conditions.
What does domestic assistance include under Support at Home?
Domestic assistance covers everyday household tasks that support a safe and comfortable home, such as cleaning, laundry, and help with meal preparation. It is designed to take pressure off tasks that become harder to manage independently over time.
What does social support include under Support at Home?
Social support helps you stay connected to your community and reduce isolation, through companionship, help attending social activities or groups, and accompanied outings. It is often paired with transport assistance so you can get to and from the places that matter to you.
What does transport assistance include under Support at Home?
Transport assistance helps you get to medical appointments, community activities, or social outings when you are no longer able to drive or use public transport easily. It is commonly used alongside social support and personal care to help you stay active and engaged outside the home.
Support at Home Levels Explained
What does Support at Home Level 1 cover?
Classification 1 is the entry level of ongoing funding, generally suited to older Australians who are mostly independent and need occasional help, such as light domestic assistance, meal support, welfare check ins, or transport to appointments.
What does Support at Home Level 2 cover?
Classification 2 provides a modest step up from Level 1, suited to people who need slightly more regular support with everyday tasks, such as more frequent domestic assistance, help with shopping, or ongoing social support to reduce isolation.
What does Support at Home Level 3 cover?
Classification 3 suits people with low to moderate care needs who benefit from a mix of services, such as regular domestic assistance, transport, and some allied health input, alongside continued support to remain independent at home.
What does Support at Home Level 4 cover?
Classification 4 sits in the middle of the scale and generally suits people needing more regular support across the week, such as personal care, domestic assistance, and allied health, alongside clinical services which are always fully funded regardless of income.
What does Support at Home Level 5 cover?
Classification 5 suits people with moderate to high care needs who require more frequent personal care and clinical support, such as regular nursing input, allied health therapy, and increased assistance with daily living tasks.
What does Support at Home Level 6 cover?
Classification 6 provides a higher quarterly budget for people with high care needs, often including more intensive personal care, nursing support, and allied health services delivered several times a week.
What does Support at Home Level 7 cover?
Classification 7 is designed for people with high to complex care needs, typically involving frequent personal care, clinical nursing support, and coordinated allied health services to manage more advanced health or mobility conditions.
What does Support at Home Level 8 cover?
Classification 8 is the highest funding tier, with the largest quarterly budget. It is designed for people with complex or high intensity care needs, such as advanced dementia or significant physical disability, allowing for more frequent personal care, nursing type support, and allied health services.
Do the Support at Home budget amounts change over time?
Yes. Funding amounts are indexed on 1 July each year, so the exact quarterly and annual figures for each classification can shift slightly year to year. For the most current amounts, always check the official Schedule of Subsidies and Supplements published by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, or ask our team to confirm.
Do I still pay anything if I have Support at Home funding?
Clinical supports such as nursing and physiotherapy have no participant contribution regardless of income or assets. Contributions may apply to some independence and everyday living services depending on your financial circumstances, which My Aged Care will confirm as part of your assessment.
